Statik SmartCard Incognito Review: The Sexiest Bluetooth Tracker for Your Wallet
Improve your chances of finding your misplaced wallet with this ultra-slim, beautifully designed card, which works with Android phones and iPhones.

What’s more serious than lost car keys? Probably a lost wallet, because now you’re without your credit cards, driver’s license, and that free-smoothie punch-card you worked so hard to complete.
The solution, of course, is to keep a Bluetooth tracker in there, one that can slip inside a slot as easily as any other card. That leaves out Apple’s AirTag, which is too bulgy and doesn’t work with Android phones. A potentially better option: The Statik SmartCard Incognito, one of the thinnest (and coolest-looking) I’ve ever tested. As long as your phone isn’t missing as well, you should be able to get a bead on your wallet’s location — anywhere in the world.
A quick primer on these things: Bluetooth item trackers (including the AirTag, Pebblebee Clip 5, and countless others) pair to your phone to create a sort of invisible short-range tether. A card like this, which is expressly designed for wallet use, can be found nearby, provided it’s within Bluetooth range. That’s usually anywhere from 30-45 feet, meaning it’s most helpful around the house or in other smaller spaces.

But if you drop your wallet in the back of an Uber or it gets picked out of your pocket, now it’s a matter for a global network. By leveraging Apple’s Find My (or Google’s Find Hub, if you own an Android phone), you’ve got a decent chance of locating the tracker out in the world. It just needs to come within range of someone else’s phone.
The SmartCard Incognito actually looks like a credit card, complete with a “chip” embedded in the front and “magnetic stripe” on the back. Does this offer any practical value? Not really, as you’ll hardly even look at the thing except when it’s charging. But the design is just plain cool.
What’s actually practical is that it’s made of very rigid plastic, with a lot less flex to it than some others I’ve tested. The card should have no trouble standing up to a crowded wallet, even one you sit on every day, despite measuring just 1.8mm thick.
To charge the battery, you just plop it onto a standard Qi wireless charging pad — though it’s a little confusing at first which side is meant to face up and where on the pad it should go. There’s a sticker on the front with instructions, but the print is so tiny, good luck reading them.

Speaking of instructions, Statik also provides a printed “SmartCard Quick Start” that’s mostly text, as well as a printed color “Quick Setup Guide” that’s nicely illustrated. I guess I’d rather have extra help than not enough, but why the two separate guides?
The larger problem is the question of battery life. Look on the Statik web site and the SmartCard Incognito box and you’ll see “11 month battery.” But in the aforementioned Quick Start, it says, “SmartCard will last about 8 months on a single charge.” And on the very next page: “Charge your SmartCard every 5 months to get the best finding experience.”
Um, OK, which is it? I haven’t had the device long enough for real-world testing, but this is a pretty big gaffe on Statik’s part. There are other cards out there that require charging after six months, a year, or even five years (!), so it’s hard to know for sure what you’re getting here.
I can tell you that the SmartCard beeps very loudly — it’s one of the louder tracker cards I’ve tested, impressive given how little room there is for a speaker inside. And the Bluetooth range was impressive as well; my iPhone was able to connect to it from the opposite end of the house, me downstairs, it upstairs.
The SmartCard Incognito is currently priced at $30 from Statik (plus $5 for shipping) and $35 at Amazon. That’s roughly in line with other branded Bluetooth tracking cards that are Android- and iPhone-compatible. While such a card doesn’t guarantee you’ll find your missing wallet, it’s certainly an inexpensive way to improve your chances.
