Six 12-packs for $23.00, or $3.83 each. The 3 for $14.00 sale already drops them to $4.67, and the $5 coupon takes it the rest of the way.

This one is a much better deal than the register math makes it look. These 12-packs normally retail for $6.95 to $9.00 each depending on the variety, so six of them is $41.70 to $54.00 of product at regular price. Paying $23.00 means you are getting 45% to 57% off original retail — $3.83 a pack against a $6.95 to $9.00 shelf price. If soda is something your household actually drinks, this is one of the strongest values on the whole list, and it needs no coupons or apps beyond the $5.

If you only get one coupon, Personal Care 1 is the answer — best percentage off, cheapest per item, most units, and the second-largest threshold cushion. Household 1 is the runner-up and needs no rebate apps at all. Grocery 2 is measured against original retail of $6.95 to $9.00 a 12-pack rather than the 3 for $14.00 sale price, which is why its discount looks so different from the $28.00 subtotal you hand over at the register.

Rebate Apps You'll Need

Only two of the six scenarios use a rebate app:

Ibotta — $4 in Household 2 (two All detergents) and $4 in Grocery 1 (lunchmeat and queso). Add the offers to your account before you check out, then scan your receipt.

Everything else comes off at the register through the Dollar General app, so Household 1, Personal Care 1, and Personal Care 2 need no apps at all.

New to Dollar General Coupon Stacking?

The order matters, and one detail trips up almost everyone:

1. Clip the $5 off $25 in the DG app. It's a store coupon and it's live Saturday 8/29 only.

2. Clip every manufacturer coupon you need, also in the DG app. These stack on top of the store coupon.

3. Hit $25 on the subtotal, not the total. This is the part people get wrong. The register checks your subtotal after store discounts but before manufacturer coupons. So a $25.20 basket can drop to $8.20 and still keep the $5.

4. Do the math before you get in line. If a price is lower than listed and you fall under $25, the $5 silently does not apply.

5. Submit rebates after you shop. Ibotta reads your receipt, so it stacks on top of everything above.

6. Check your receipt for a reprinted coupon. The $5 off $25 is one time use, but a printout on your receipt lets you run a second scenario.

Tips for Saturday

Personal Care 1 is the best use of your one coupon at $1.16 an item and 70.7% off.
Household 1 is the easiest — four items, four coupons, no apps, done at the register for $8.00.
Verify prices on Personal Care 2 and Household 2 first. They clear $25 by only $0.20 and $0.30 respectively.
Keep a cheap filler item in hand. If your subtotal comes in under $25, one $1 aisle item saves the whole $5.
The $1 aisle item in Personal Care 2 is just a $1 item from the store's $1 section, not a rebate app offer. Pick something you'll use.
Check your receipt before you leave. A reprinted $5 off $25 means you can run a second scenario the same day.
