This week's CVS run is a 6-transaction ExtraBucks roll that turns over $140 of product into just $6.32 out of pocket — and you also walk out with a $50 gift card that keeps every dollar of its value.
Here's what makes this week different: the roll is kicked off by a gift card. You buy a $50 Panera, Aeropostale, Fandango, H&M, IHOP, or Cinemark gift card and CVS hands you $15 in ExtraBucks for it. You haven't lost anything — the gift card is still worth $50 — but you now have $15 of free money to launch the roll. From there, $54 of ExtraBucks cascades through five more transactions covering Tom's of Maine, Palmer's, Neutrogena, Ajax, Betty Crocker, Cottonelle, Febreze, Tide, Act, La Frances, CVS Cleansing Cloths, Crest, and Charmin.
At the register you'll hand over $56.32 + tax total — but $50 of that is the gift card you're keeping. The 20 products cost you $6.32.
The best way to maximize savings at CVS is to separate your transactions to "roll" your ExtraBucks. That means do a deal, get the ExtraBucks back, and use those ExtraBucks on your next transaction to lower your out-of-pocket cost on the next deal — which then generates more ExtraBucks.
ExtraBuck Rewards are coupons that print off (or load to your CVS app account) when you purchase participating products at CVS. These rewards give you dollars off your next purchase.

💳 About That Gift Card (Read This First)
Transaction 1 is a $50 gift card purchase, and it's worth being clear about what it does and doesn't do.
It is not a discount. You pay $50 and get $50 of gift card. The value is the $15 ExtraBuck CVS gives you for buying it — effectively $50 of Panera for $35.
Only do it if you actually shop there. If you eat at Panera, see movies at Cinemark, or shop H&M regularly, this is pre-paying for something you'd buy anyway and getting $15 free. If you don't, a $50 gift card gathering dust in a drawer is not a deal.
You can skip Transaction 1 entirely. The roll still works — you just start it with your own money instead of the $15 ExtraBuck. Here's what changes:
- With the gift card: over $140 of product for $6.32, plus a $50 gift card
- Skipping the gift card: over $140 of product for $21.32 — still about 85% off
Either way it's a strong week. The gift card just makes it dramatically better if you'll use it.
Before You Shop
- Log in to your CVS ExtraCare account and clip every digital coupon in this post BEFORE you get to the register. Unclipped coupons will not apply.
- Check your account for the two purchase-based coupons. This run uses a $4 off $20 coupon in Transaction 3 and a $4 CVS store coupon in Transaction 4. These are account-specific — not everyone gets them. See the note below on how the math shifts if you don't have them.
- Ask for separate transactions. Tell the cashier you're doing multiple deals and want each rung up separately. Or use self-checkout and ring them up one at a time.
- Order matters. Do Transaction 1 first to earn your first ExtraBuck, then apply it to Transaction 2, and so on. Don't skip ahead.
- ExtraBucks print on your receipt (or load to your app) — grab them before you start the next transaction.
- Have Ibotta ready. Transaction 2 includes an Ibotta rebate on the Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks. (Sign up for Ibotta)

🔴 Transaction 2: The Big One — Tom's, Palmer's, Neutrogena, Ajax + Fruit Snacks
This is the heaviest transaction of the week, generating $17 in ExtraBucks off a $2.21 out-of-pocket. Read it carefully.

> TOTAL: $42.71
> (LESS): $10 off $30 Personal Care CVS Coupon
> (LESS): $15.50 Digital Coupons
> (LESS): $15 ExtraBuck Reward from Transaction 1
> PAY: $2.21 + Tax
> Get Back: $17 ExtraBuck Rewards + $0.80 Ibotta Rebates → roll the ExtraBucks into Transaction 3
> The $30 personal care threshold clears comfortably. Tom's ($11.69) + Palmer's ($10.49) + Neutrogena ($10.49) = $32.67 in personal care. The Ajax and Betty Crocker don't count toward it, and they don't need to.
> About the Ibotta amount: Nick reported $1.80 back, but that included a $1 Ibotta bonus he'd unlocked from a previous purchase in a tracked bonus offer. Most readers will get $0.80 (the $0.75 fruit snacks rebate plus the $0.05 any-receipt rebate). We've used $0.80 in our totals to keep this honest — check your own Ibotta bonuses to see if you have a tracker running.
🔴 Transaction 3: Cottonelle + Febreze + Tide ($30 Threshold)
- Buy (2) Cottonelle 8 Mega Roll Toilet Paper at $8.99 each ($17.98)
- 🏷️ Use $2 off 2 Digital Coupon
- Buy (1) Febreze Car Clips Twin Pack at $6.49
- Buy (1) Tide Pods at $5.49
- 💵 Get Back: $10 ExtraBuck Reward for buying $30 worth of participating products
- 🎟️ Use $4 off $20 CVS Purchase Coupon — account-specific; see note
> TOTAL: $29.96
> (LESS): $4 off $20 CVS Purchase Coupon
> (LESS): $6 Digital Coupons
> (LESS): $17 ExtraBuck Rewards from Transaction 2
> PAY: $2.96 + Tax
> Get Back: $10 ExtraBuck Reward → roll this into Transaction 4
> ⚠️ Your subtotal is $29.96, four cents short of $30 — and it still works. CVS operates on a 98% rule: if you're within 98% of a spend threshold, the ExtraBuck still triggers. 98% of $30 is $29.40, and $29.96 clears it. Don't panic at the register, and don't add a filler item you don't need.
> If you don't have the $4 off $20 coupon, you'll pay $6.96 here instead of $2.96. Check your CVS account before you shop — if you have a different amount, adjust accordingly. The $10 ExtraBuck still triggers either way.
🔴 Transaction 4: Act Mouthwash + Cleansing Cloths + Caramel
- Buy (2) Act Mouthwash at $5.29 each ($10.58)
- 🏷️ Use $1 Digital Coupon
- 💵 Get Back: $7 ExtraBuck Reward when you buy (2)
- Buy (1) La Frances Caramel at $0.39
- Buy (1) CVS Cleansing Cloths at $4.19
- 🎟️ Use $4 CVS Store Coupon — account-specific; see note
> TOTAL: $15.16
> (LESS): $1 Digital Coupon
> (LESS): $4 CVS Store Coupon — Cleansing Cloths
> (LESS): $10 ExtraBuck Reward from Transaction 3
> PAY: $0.16 + Tax
> Get Back: $7 ExtraBuck Reward → roll this into Transaction 5
> The Act Mouthwash is the real deal here — $10.58 of mouthwash generating a $7 ExtraBuck. The $0.39 caramel is a cheap filler that costs almost nothing and helps the transaction land clean.
> The $4 Cleansing Cloths coupon is not universal. Check your CVS account. Without it you'll pay $4.16 here instead of $0.16, and the $7 ExtraBuck still prints. If you don't have it, consider dropping the Cleansing Cloths from the transaction entirely.
🔴 Transaction 5: Crest / Oral B Three-Pack (FREE)
- Buy (3) Select Crest Toothpaste / Oral B Toothbrushes / Crest Mouthwash at $3.99 each ($11.97)
- 🏷️ Use $5 off 3 Digital Coupon
- 💵 Get Back: $5 ExtraBuck Reward when you buy (3)
> TOTAL: $11.97
> (LESS): $5 Digital Coupon
> (LESS): $7 ExtraBuck Reward from Transaction 4 (adjusts down to $6.97)
> PAY: $0.00 + Tax
> Get Back: $5 ExtraBuck Reward → roll this into Transaction 6
> Completely free, and you can mix and match. Three oral care items for nothing but tax. The offer covers Crest toothpaste, Oral B toothbrushes, and Crest mouthwash — grab whatever combination of three you'll actually use.
> You'll forfeit three cents. Your $7 ExtraBuck gets applied to a $6.97 balance, and CVS ExtraBucks don't give change — the reward adjusts down and the extra $0.03 is gone. That's the only leakage in the entire roll, and it's not worth engineering around.
🔴 Transaction 6: Charmin Essentials (Final Roll)
- Buy (1) Charmin Essentials Toilet Paper 6 Mega Rolls at $6.99
- 🏷️ Use $1 Digital Coupon
> TOTAL: $6.99
> (LESS): $1 Digital Coupon
> (LESS): $5 ExtraBuck Reward from Transaction 5
> PAY: $0.99 + Tax
> This is the closer. It consumes the last $5 ExtraBuck so nothing is left sitting on your card. Six mega rolls for a dollar.

You walk out with 20 products worth over $140 at original prices — toothpaste, cocoa butter lotion, acne patches, dish soap, fruit snacks, toilet paper, car fresheners, laundry pods, mouthwash, caramel, cleansing cloths, oral care, and more toilet paper — for just $6.32 out of pocket. That is a $133.68 savings, about 95% off. After the $0.80 Ibotta rebate lands, your true cost on the products drops to $5.52.
The BOGO and sale pricing in this post is what you'll actually pay at the register this week. The $140+ figure reflects what these 20 products cost at their original, non-sale shelf prices — which is the real measure of what the sale pricing, digital coupons, and ExtraBucks roll saved you.
And you still have the $50 gift card, worth every penny you paid for it.
The ExtraBucks ledger: the roll generates $54 in ExtraBucks ($15 + $17 + $10 + $7 + $5) and consumes $53.97 of it across the six transactions. Only $0.03 goes unused. That near-perfect consumption is exactly why the out-of-pocket lands so low — nothing is left stranded on your card.
Tips for This Week's CVS Run
- Decide on the gift card before you leave the house. It's the single biggest variable. If you'll use $50 at Panera or the movies, buy it and start the roll with $15 of free money. If not, skip Transaction 1 and start at Transaction 2 — you'll pay $21.32 instead of $6.32, which is still about 85% off.
- Transaction 2 is the engine. It produces $17 in ExtraBucks off a $2.21 out-of-pocket, and everything downstream depends on it. If a product is out of stock, the $30 personal care threshold is what matters most — Tom's, Palmer's, and Neutrogena alone hit $32.67, so you have a $2.67 cushion.
- Four ExtraBucks print at once in Transaction 2. $4 Tom's, $6 Palmer's, $5 Neutrogena, $2 Ajax. They're separate rewards, so make sure all four print and hand over all four in Transaction 3.
- Don't chase the last four cents in Transaction 3. $29.96 triggers the $30 ExtraBuck thanks to the 98% rule. Adding a filler item to "be safe" just costs you money.
- Check your account coupons first — they're worth $8. The $4 off $20 in Transaction 3 and the $4 store coupon in Transaction 4 are both account-specific. If you have neither, your product cost goes from $6.32 to $14.32. Still an excellent week, but plan for it rather than being surprised at the register.
- Transaction 5 is the easiest free win of the month. Three oral care items, $0.00 out of pocket, and it's mix-and-match across Crest toothpaste, Oral B brushes, and Crest mouthwash. Even if you skip everything else, do this one.
- Clip every CVS digital coupon in the app BEFORE checkout. This run uses $28.50 in digital coupons across five transactions. An unclipped coupon won't apply even if the item is on your receipt.
- Watch for BOGO pricing on Tom's of Maine (50% off), Palmer's (50% off), and Ajax (40% off). The system applies BOGO automatically when you scan two eligible items — no code needed.
- Penny variances are normal on BOGO. Half of an odd-cent price rounds at the register, so your Tom's, Palmer's, and Ajax subtotals may land a penny either side of what's listed here.
- Submit your Ibotta rebates the same day. The Betty Crocker offer plus the $0.05 any-receipt rebate are small, but the any-receipt one works on this exact trip regardless of what else you bought.
- Grab your receipts and keep them in order. Each ExtraBuck prints on the receipt of the transaction that triggered it. Stack them in sequence so you don't hand the cashier the wrong one.
