Dollar General 9/17: 6 Scenarios, $0.67 Each

Dollar General's bonus $5 off $25 runs Mon-Fri 9/14-9/18 and again Saturday 9/19, plus a separate $5 off $15 Henkel coupon. Six verified scenarios, led by 9 items for $6.00 at $0.67 each and 76.2% off.
Dollar General is running a bonus $5 off $25 digital coupon Monday through Friday (9/14 - 9/18) and again on Saturday (9/19). We built and verified six scenarios, and the best one gets you 9 items for $6.00 — $0.67 each and 76.2% off.
This is a rare three-transaction week. The $5 off $25 is one use per window, so you get one run Monday through Friday and a second one on Saturday. On top of that there is a separate $5 off $15 Henkel coupon good any day Sunday through Saturday. That is three qualifying trips if you want them.
The Best Scenario is the one to build around. Two packs of pens, two Sharpies, toothpaste, a Febreze freshener, an Air Wick kit, Dove deodorant, and dish soap ring up at $25.25 and come home for $6.00. Nothing else on this list gets under $0.67 an item.

Before You Shop
How the $5 off $25 works:
- ✅ It stacks with manufacturer digital coupons and rebate apps.
- ✅ Your subtotal needs to hit $25, not your total. The register checks your subtotal after store discounts but before manufacturer coupons. That is how a $25.25 basket still keeps the $5 and lands at $6.00.
- ✅ Everything lives in the DG app. Both the $5 off $25 and every manufacturer coupon referenced below are in the Dollar General app or on the website.
- ⚠️ One use per window. Pick one scenario for Monday through Friday and a different one for Saturday. If a printout version comes on your receipt, you can put it toward another run.
Only one Dollar General store coupon per transaction. The $5 off $15 Henkel coupon is a store coupon too, so it cannot ride along with the $5 off $25. Run the Henkel deal as its own separate transaction.
Double-check your store's prices before you check out. Prices vary by location once in a while, and these scenarios are verified only at the prices listed. If your prices match what is below, the math is good to go with the exact items named. If a price rings up lower and your subtotal slips under $25, the $5 quietly does not apply.
Watch the cushion. The Best Scenario clears $25 by only $0.25, which is the tightest one here. Add it up on your phone before you get in line. Every cushion is in the comparison table.
Only one scenario needs an app at all. The Henkel deal uses three Ibotta rebates. The other five come off entirely at the register.

- 📝 Buy (2) Sharpie Markers, 1-2 Count, $2.00 each ($4.00) — use the $2 off 2 digital coupon

Seven manufacturer coupons in one basket is what makes this work. At 76.2% off it is the deepest scenario on the list, and it needs no apps and no receipt scanning. Every dollar comes off before you walk out.
Back-to-school supplies are the quiet win here. Eight pens and two Sharpies for effectively pocket change, riding along with toothpaste, deodorant, and two air fresheners.
Cushion is only $0.25, the tightest of the six. If the pens ring up at $1.25 instead of $1.50 you drop to $24.75 and lose the entire $5, which turns $6.00 into $11.00. Add this one up on your phone before you get in line.
🏷️ $5 off $15 Henkel Deal — $6.00 for 3 Detergents
- 🟠 Buy (1) All Free and Clear Detergent, $5.00
- Submit the $1.50 Ibotta rebate
- 🟠 Buy (1) All Sensitive Fresh Detergent, $5.00
- Submit the $1.50 Ibotta rebate
- 🟠 Buy (1) Persil Laundry Detergent, $5.50
- Submit the $1.50 Ibotta rebate > TOTAL: $15.50 > (LESS): $5 off $15 Henkel Brand Coupon > (LESS): $4.50 Ibotta Rebates > FINAL PRICE: $6.00 FOR ALL ($2.00 EACH)
Three full bottles of name-brand detergent for two dollars each, and it does not touch your $5 off $25. This is a separate store coupon with its own threshold, so it is pure bonus on top of whichever scenario you pick.
Run it as its own transaction. Only one DG store coupon works per order, so trying to combine this with the $5 off $25 will cost you one of them. Two trips, two coupons.
Cushion is $0.50 against the $15 threshold, and this is the only scenario on the list that needs Ibotta. Add all three offers before you check out, because Ibotta will not count an offer added after the fact.
🧴 Personal Care Scenario — $8.75 for 6 Items
- 📝 Buy (2) Garnier Fructis Shampoo or Conditioner, $4.50 each ($9.00) — use the $4 off 2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Colgate Maxfresh, 4 Ounce, $3.25 — use the $2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Advil, 8-24 Count, $4.50 — use the $2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Dove Men All Star Comfort Deodorant, 2.6 Ounce, $6.00 — use the $3 digital coupon

66.0% off and the best pick for your second run. Two hair products, toothpaste, deodorant, pain reliever, and hand soap covers a lot of bathroom ground for under nine dollars, and nothing here needs an app.
Cushion is $0.75, the second safest on the list, which makes this a comfortable one to run if you are shopping in a hurry.
🧽 Household Scenario 1 — $9.20 for 6 Items
- 📝 Buy (1) Febreze Fall Scented Bathroom Freshener, $3.50 — use the $2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Air Wick Scented Oil Starter Kit, $4.25 — use the $3 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (2) Fabuloso Spray Cleaners, $4.00 each ($8.00) — use the $2.50 off 2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Clorox Wipes, 35 Count, $3.00 — use the $1 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Rayovac 8 Pack Batteries, $6.95 — use the $3 digital coupon > TOTAL: $25.70 > (LESS): $5 off $25 Coupon > (LESS): $11.50 Digital Coupons > FINAL PRICE: $9.20 FOR ALL ($1.53 EACH)
64.2% off, and it is the only scenario with batteries. Eight AA or AAA cells for $3.95 after the coupon is a genuinely good price, and batteries almost never get couponed at all.
Two air fresheners, two spray cleaners, and a canister of wipes covers a full cleaning restock. The Air Wick kit at $1.25 after its coupon is the cheapest single item across all six scenarios.
Cushion is $0.70. Confirm the Rayovac is $6.95 at your store, because it is 27% of the subtotal on its own and a lower price there is what would put you under $25.
🧽 Household Scenario 2 — $13.25 for 6 Items
- 📝 Buy (1) Air Wick Scented Oil Starter Kit, $4.25 — use the $3 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (2) Scott Bathroom Tissue, 12 Count, $5.00 each ($10.00) — use the $2 off 2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (2) Cottonelle Bathroom Tissue, 4 Mega Rolls, $5.00 each ($10.00) — use the $2 off 2 digital coupon
- 📝 Buy (1) Ajax Dish Soap, $1.25 — use the $0.25 digital coupon > TOTAL: $25.50 > (LESS): $5 off $25 Coupon > (LESS): $7.25 Digital Coupons > FINAL PRICE: $13.25 FOR ALL ($2.21 EACH)
48.0% off, and this is the paper goods run. Twenty-four regular rolls from the Scott plus eight mega rolls from the Cottonelle is a real restock, and toilet paper rarely sees coupons this deep.
It is the shallowest percentage of the five threshold scenarios, mostly because paper products carry smaller coupons. Judge this one on what you actually need rather than on the discount, since $13.25 for 32 rolls of tissue and an air freshener kit is still a good trip.
Cushion is $0.50. The source lists no per-item figure for this scenario, so we calculated it: $13.25 across 6 items is $2.21 each.
🛒 Soda Deal — $25.00 for 6 Packs
- Buy (6) Dr Pepper, Sunkist, Canada Dry, RC Cola, or Squirt, 3 for $15.00 ($30.00) > TOTAL: $30.00 > (LESS): $5 off $25 Coupon > FINAL PRICE: $25.00 FOR 6 PACKS ($4.17 EACH)
This one looks like the weakest deal on the list and is actually one of the strongest. Measured against the $30 sale price it is only 16.7% off, which is why it ranks last in the table. Measured against the $8 to $9 these packs normally retail for, $4.17 a pack is roughly half price.
We are publishing the conservative number on purpose. The $5.00 per pack in the 3 for $15 sale is already a promotional price, so the percentage above is calculated off that instead of full retail. Your real savings against a normal shelf tag are considerably higher.
One correction to note: the source lists $4.16 each. $25.00 divided by 6 packs is $4.1667, which rounds to $4.17. The $25.00 total is correct either way.
Cushion is $5.00, the largest here by a mile, so there is no threshold risk at all on this one.
Scenario Comparison
Every subtotal, coupon total, rebate total, and final price below was recalculated from the listed item prices.
| Scenario | Items | Subtotal | Final Price | Per Item | % Off | Cushion |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ⭐ Best Scenario | 9 | $25.25 | $6.00 | $0.67 | 76.2% | ⚠️ $0.25 |
| 🧴 Personal Care | 6 | $25.75 | $8.75 | $1.46 | 66.0% | $0.75 |
| 🧽 Household 1 | 6 | $25.70 | $9.20 | $1.53 | 64.2% | $0.70 |
| 🏷️ Henkel $5 off $15 | 3 | $15.50 | $6.00 | $2.00 | 61.3% | $0.50 |
| 🧽 Household 2 | 6 | $25.50 | $13.25 | $2.21 | 48.0% | $0.50 |
| 🛒 Soda Deal | 6 | $30.00 | $25.00 | $4.17 | 16.7% | $5.00 |
Run the Best Scenario first. It is 76.2% off, its per-item price is less than half the next best, and it needs no apps. Just verify your prices given the $0.25 cushion.
Then pick a second scenario for Saturday. Personal Care is the strongest follow-up at $8.75 and 66.0% off, and it has triple the cushion.
Do the Henkel deal whenever you are in the store. It is a separate coupon on a separate threshold, so it costs you nothing from the other two runs.
Here is what a full week actually looks like. Henkel plus the Best Scenario twice comes to $18.00 for 21 items, or $0.86 each and 72.7% off. If you would rather not buy the same basket twice, Henkel plus Best plus Personal Care is $20.75 for 18 items at $1.15 each and 68.8% off.
Across all six scenarios the numbers come to $147.70 down to $68.20 — $79.50 back and 53.8% off across 36 units, or $1.89 per item. Treat that as a picture of the week's depth rather than a shopping plan, since the coupons are limited use.
Where the Savings Come From
Totals below count every scenario, so they add up to more than any one trip can capture.
| Source | Amount | Share | Offers |
|---|---|---|---|
| 📝 Mfr Digital Coupons | $45.00 | 56.6% | 21 |
| 🏷️ DG Store Coupons | $30.00 | 37.7% | 6 |
| 🟠 Ibotta | $4.50 | 5.7% | 3 |
| TOTAL | $79.50 | 100% | 30 |
Manufacturer digital coupons carry 57% of the savings, and they are free to clip in the DG app. Add the store coupons themselves and 94% of everything here comes off at the register with no app and no receipt scanning. Only $4.50 of the $79.50 arrives later, and all of it is in the Henkel deal.
Rebate Apps You'll Need
Only one scenario uses an app at all:
- Ibotta — $4.50 across the Henkel deal, three $1.50 rebates on the two All detergents and the Persil. Add all three offers before you check out, then scan your receipt.
The other five scenarios need nothing but the DG app. Clip the store coupon, clip the manufacturer coupons, and everything comes off at the register.
New to Dollar General Coupon Stacking?
1. Clip the $5 off $25 in the DG app. It is live Monday through Friday (9/14 - 9/18) and again Saturday (9/19), with one use per window.
2. Clip every manufacturer coupon you need, also in the DG app. These stack on top of the store coupon.
3. Hit $25 on the subtotal, not the total. The register checks your subtotal after store discounts but before manufacturer coupons. That is how a $25.25 basket drops to $6.00 and still keeps the $5.
4. Do the math before you get in line. If a price is lower than listed and your subtotal falls under $25, the $5 quietly does not apply. Confirm each price matches what is listed here.
5. Remember the one-store-coupon rule. The $5 off $15 Henkel and the $5 off $25 cannot go in the same order. Split them into two transactions and you keep both.
6. Load Ibotta offers before you shop. Ibotta will not count an offer added after checkout.
7. Keep your receipt. If a bonus $5 off $25 prints on it, you get to run an extra scenario.
8. Plan your two windows in advance. One scenario Monday through Friday and a different one Saturday gets you the most out of the week.
Tips for This Week
- Build your weekday trip around the Best Scenario. At $0.67 an item and 76.2% off it is the deepest cut here, and its seven manufacturer coupons all come off at the register.
- Verify the pen and Sharpie prices first. The Best Scenario has only $0.25 of cushion, and those four items are $7.00 of the $25.25 subtotal.
- Do the Henkel deal as a standalone trip. Three detergents for $6.00 is the best laundry price of the week and it does not use up either $5 off $25.
- Save Personal Care for Saturday. It is the second deepest scenario, it needs no apps, and $0.75 of cushion makes it low risk.
- Household 1 is the only place to get batteries. Eight cells for $3.95 after the coupon, and battery coupons are rare.
- Judge the Soda Deal on retail, not on the sale price. At $4.17 a pack against an $8 to $9 normal shelf tag it is close to half off, even though the percentage in the table looks small.
- All figures are pre-tax, and the Ibotta rebates arrive after you shop, so plan for the final price plus tax at the register.
